Last night’s lightning storm produced quite a few reports of lightning strikes resulting in fires beginning at 8:20 p.m. and continuing through this morning.

Last night, there was a confirmed structure fire at the Skyway at Crossroads in Paradise that has been attributed to lightning. Two structures were damaged in this fire, but the other fire reports turned out to be unfounded.

This morning, crews quickly contained a small spot fire in the area of Jordon Hill and Rattlesnake Creek and found a tree and small spot of vegetation. This fire was quickly contained around 9:00 a.m.

Air Attack 210 was dispatched from the Chico Air Attack Base and reported finding several small fires.

All of these fires were found to be legal controlled burns, and not a result of the lightning activity.

Fire crews are continuing to monitor the affected areas.
