A lightning sparked fire burning in the Shasta- Trinity National Forest continued growing overnight, and is now estimated to be 921 acres, with no containment.
A mandatory evacuation order for County Road 311, also known as the Lower South Fork Road, north of Big Slide Campground to Manzanita Ranch has been issued by the Trinity County Sheriff's Office around 6 p.m. Wednesday. Additionally, an evacuation advisory has been issued for the town of Hyampom.
Andrea Capps, a spokesperson for the Shasta-Trinity National Forest says the mandatory evacuation order is impacting roughly 100 people, while the advisory impacts 500.
The Red Cross has established an evacuation center at Hayfork High School.
The fire was reported to be roughly 250 acres at 6 p.m. Wednesday, growing to 750 by 9 p.m. On Thursday morning fire officials estimated the blaze grew overnight to 921 acres. Officials estimate the blaze will continue to grow Thursday as it moves to the south and west.
