Today was a scorcher around the North State! But relief is coming, and soon. Look for high temperatures to drop more than 20 degrees by Friday!
The heat was on as today turned out to be the hottest day of the year for us... so far. Valley highs reached the middle and upper 90's! Big changes are coming our way, however. A chilly (for May) storm is dropping south from the Gulf of Alaska, and will move in over the next few days. High temperatures will drop 10 to 15 degrees tomorrow with a few high clouds as high pressure is moved aside. By Friday look for Valley highs in the low 70's... and that will last through the weekend!
Cloudy skies with scattered showers and maybe even a thunderstorm will arrive on Friday, lasting into Saturday. We're looking at around 1/10" to 2/10" of rain, so not too much... the cooler air is more significant. But there should be at least a little bit of rain, to help wash those cars and knock the pollen down a little.
The unsettled weather retreats into the mountains by Sunday, and continues there into next week. High temperatures will stay in the 70's for the first half of next week.
So, if you're already tired of the heat... relief is coming soon!
