The heat continued around the North State Friday, but look for a bit of a cooldown this weekend. Scorching hot temperatures return next week!
High pressure will weaken a bit this weekend, and that will lead to temperatures cooling down just a little. The ridge will strengthen right back next week, and the blazing heat will be back!
Monsoon moisture has surged north, and we saw a few thunderstorms in the Sierra Nevada this afternoon. With even more moisture coming our way tomorrow, there should be more thunderstorms in the mountains on Saturday. The good news is that there's so much moisture on the way, that the thunderstorms should contain rain. That would wash out most lightning sparked fires. The upper level winds will shift to a southwesterly direction by next week, which should blow the monsoon moisture eastward... and dry us out.
