Monday was blazing hot around the North State, with Valley highs ranging from 106 to 111. This will be the peak of the heat this week, however, as less hot conditions arrive Tuesday. A little Delta Breeze will help with the cooldown, but a fair amount of high cloud cover from the Desert Southwest (the Monsoon) will surge into the North State, blocking the sun at times for the next couple of days. This moisture will also spark a few mountain thunderstorms, but they should all have rain with them, diminishing the fire threat some.
High pressure will break down by the upcoming weekend, allowing further cooling.
