A mixed verdict was returned Thursday in the trial of the accused La Salle's shooter.
After eight hours of deliberations the jury deadlocked on the first count of Attempted Murder for Shane Warner, in the shooting of Sam Smith.
Two people were shot inside the busy Downtown Chico bar in july of 2011.
Prosecutors say the deadlock was over whether Warner was guilty of Attempted Murder ... or Voluntary Manslaughter ... so, no verdict was returned on that count.
But, the jury did find Warner guilty of Attempted Voluntary Manslaughter for shooting Michelle Chin of oakland.
Jurors also convicted Warner of assault with a semi-automatic weapon with great bodily injury.
Those convictions could bring more than 20 years behind bars.
Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey said he will decide in the next few weeks whether to re-try Warner for the attempted murder of Smith, which would carry a penalty of life in prison. ###
