Authorities were able to apprehend one suspect involved with a Shasta County marijuana grow that had 445 plants, but are still searching for a second suspect.
The Shasta County Sheriff’s Marijuana Investigative Team and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife served search warrants at adjoining pieces of land near Fiddler’s Road in Ono yesterday.
Two Hispanic men attempted to run from the scene, agents were able to detain one man, identified as Gerardo Peralta-Suarez, but the other suspect escaped.
Agents found evidence that both properties were connected by a trail system and being maintained by the same suspects. 445 marijuana plants were destroyed.
Peralta-Suarez was booked into the Shasta County Jail for marijuana cultivation, possession of marijuana for sale, and illegal entry.
