A major drug bust by the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office. A deputy stopped the driver of a newer Chrysler four door sedan for speeding and failing to stop at a stop sign Friday evening in the Myrtletown area of Eureka. The driver identified himself as 20-year old Mario Martinez Torres from Perris, California. A DMV records check revealed Torres driver's license was suspended. The deputy also noticed Torres and a male passenger were very nervous and evasive when they spoke with him. The deputy questioned, identified and released the18-year old male passenger, also from Perris, California.
The Humboldt County Drug Task Force was contacted and searched the vehicle after obtaining a search warrant for the vehicle, which they served on 04-14-2014. During a search of the vehicle, they located hidden compartments and more than four pounds of Heroin, valued at more than $200,000.00.
Torres and the male passenger will be charged with transportation of a controlled substance and possession for sale of a controlled substance.
