Two local congressmen have introduced a bill they hope will expedite the construction of the proposed Sites Reservoir in Glenn and Colusa Counties.

Rep. Doug LaMalfa and Rep. John Garamendi introduced HR 1060 last week, a house bill that would speed up the completion of a Sites Reservoir feasibility study and authorize the project should it be found feasible.

"It's time to fulfill the promises made to voters, move forward on Sites, and build the infrastructure that will allow our state's economy to continue growing for generations to come." Rep. LaMalfa said in a statement.

The proposed Sites Reservoir would be located west of Maxwell, along the Glenn-Colusa canal, and hold up to 1.8 million acre feet of water. Lawmakers say the reservoir would help the state through ongoing drought conditions.
