Lake Shasta water level on the rise

Lake Shasta is 48 feet higher today than it was at this time last year.

The lake is at 57 percent capacity, and last year was more than a hundred feet below the crust. The water level in snow less than 80 feet below the crust.

The higher lake level is good news for boaters and anglers. The General Manager of the Shasta Recreation Company says he only had three boat launches open last year, but if the lake rises just 10 more feet he will have a total of six launches open.

In all the lake has gained a hundred feet of water since November.
