Lake Oroville close to reaching historic low

Aug 11, 2015 9:00 PM

The water level at Lake Oroville is on course to reach lows not seen in nearly 40 years. As of today the lake is at 32% capacity, when on average it should be at 45%.

Boaters are used to seeing the lake fluctuate, however levels are lowering rapidly.

State Parks Rangers say the lake is measuring at 680 feet. They add this is an ideal time to hit the water, as it's not as crowded.

The remaining launch is Bidwell Canyon. Spillway is open to four wheel drive only.
