KZFR FM 90.1 Community Radio has launched a “Power to the Tower” fundraising campaign to purchase a new transmitter, after the old transmitter failed in November.

Since then the non-profit, non-commercial station staffed by volunteers has been operating under low power.

Based in Chico, KZFR has been broadcasting in the North State for 23 years, offering unique programming with live disc jockeys.

A series of concerts is planned at the Chico Women’s Club for the fundraising drive. “Midnight North” and “Walking Spanish” will perform February 1. A Mardi Gras party is planned at the Club on February 28 featuring “Karma Kings” and “Bahapki”. “Commander Cody” is the headliner on the March 8 Concert.

The station has also launched an “indiegogo” online fundraising campaign. And donations are accepted anytime through which is also where you can find more information about the upcoming concerts.
