Krispy Kreme Reopens in Chico

Nearly a decade after closing its doors, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is back open in Chico. The line wrapped around the building Tuesday morning. Some people had been camped out since Sunday. The big draw: free donuts every month for a year for the first 100 people. It’s not just the donuts that have people excited. More than 700 people attended a hiring event earlier this month hoping to find employment, with only 80 making the cut.

Krispy Kreme employee Cody Frazer says, "There's so many people looking for jobs all over Chico, especially college students. A place like this opens up and provides those jobs. It’s really awesome to be able to be here."

Employees put in lots of hours getting trained and geared up for the big day.

"We had to learn how to do everything. How to make the doughnuts and the drinks. How to sell the product, the prices. It was really a big deal last week getting ready for this," says Frazer.

Whether you enjoy them for breakfast, lunch or dinner, Krispy Kreme is open 24 hours a day.
