Known drug dealer arrested in Oroville bust

Butte County Sheriff Drug enforcement officers arrested a suspect with copious of drugs and several weapons Thursday in Oroville.

Steven Woods, 40, was a known drug dealer whom Butte Interagency Narcotics Taskforce seized drugs, cash and firearms from a residence where he was staying.

Narcotics detectives said they were investigating Woods since last September when he was first arrested.

Police said this is the third time Woods has been taken into custody in the last 6 months.

California Highway Patrol officers followed Woods to a Montgomery street house he was known to stay.

Once inside the house, BINTF detectives and Oroville police seized more than two ounces of meth, one ounce of black tar heroin, 50 methadone pills, $4,500 in cash, packaging, scales and two firearms, one of which was reported stolen.

Detectives whose identities must be kept secret, said Woods was known to deal all over the North State.

“His primary residence is out of Oroville but we have linked him to sales in Paradise, Chico, Magalia, Oroville and Palermo,” the detective said.

Woods is being held in the Butte County Jail on charges including narcotics possession for sale as well as possession of a stolen firearm on $1.6 million bond.
