Kirshner Wildlife Foundation hit with more than $5,000 in fines

The Barry R. Kirshner Wildlife Foundation was hit with more than $5,000 in fines related to cases of ongoing animal welfare violations observed by the US Department Agriculture Tuesday.

The report released by the USDA highlighted more than six separate violations of the animals are handled by people at the center from 2011 – 2014.

Some of the complaints lodged against the Kirshner Foundation were:

  • Inadequate veterinary care
  • Improper handling of public exhibited animals
  • Allowing members of the public to come in contact with unrestrained adult animals
  • The USDA hit the foundation with a fine of $5,464.
