Smoke is in the air in Butte County, and all over the North State, today from an El Dorado County Fire burning nearly 4,000 acres east of Placerville.

The King Fire near Pollock Pines has forced the evacuation of 133 homes. It grew by about 900 acres overnight to 3,900 acres, or a little more than 6 square miles. The blaze is currently just 10 percent contained.

A shift in wind direction today is bringing significant smoke and a noticeable haze to the North State, but Butte County Cal Fire has confirmed there are no fires burning in the area.
