Hundreds of young anglers will get an introduction to one of the area’s best outdoor activities at the annual Kids Fishing Day, slated for Saturday, April 19 at Paradise Lake.
Kids Fishing Day features free raffles and prizes for catching "big" fish. The young fishers will have the opportunity to reel in some of the more than 4,400 pounds of catchable size trout, including trophy-size trout weighing seven pounds and more.
The day of family fun begins at 6 am and continues until 3 pm. Kids may fish at Paradise Lake's Picnic Area, as well as the North Shore area. Only youth ages 3 to 15 will be permitted to fish; parents and grandparents are encouraged to provide assistance only. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
The event is sponsored by the Paradise Irrigation District with support from the Butte County Fish and Game Commission.
Paradise Lake opens to the public for boat use on April 26.
