Neel Kashkari, a Republican gubernatorial candidate, announced today his campaign has raised $976,000 in its first two weeks.
“Neel is extremely grateful to all the supporters who have helped get his campaign off to such a strong start,” said campaign manager Pat Melton. “Clearly, there is broad support for Neel’s platform of creating good jobs and giving every kid a quality education and for his commitment to restoring the Republican Party as the party of economic opportunity.”
Melton acknowledged Kashkari still faces a significant financial disadvantage against Gov. Jerry Brown, who has amassed over $17 million in campaign finances, but believes their campaign’s financing in the first two weeks underscores Kashkari’s strength as a candidate.
“The status quo is unacceptable,” said Melton. “[These funds] will help ensure that we have the resources necessary to share with voters his vision for turning California around.”
