Juvenile Suspects Found in Stolen Car

Two teenagers are arrested after they were found in a stolen car. The 17 and 15-year-olds were spotted driving in the area of 16th and Laurel Street in Chico around 10 Wednesday morning. The driver sped off when he noticed an officer was following him and then left the car in a nearby ally way. Witnesses told the officer that the suspects had put something in a bush before leaving the area on foot. It was later found to be a loaded 9mm handgun and the suspects were apprehended a couple blocks away. During a search of the stolen car, officers found a single 9mm cartridge.

The names of the suspects are not being released due to their ages.

The 17-year-old was taken to Juvenile Hall on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, being armed in the commission of a felony, felon in possession of a firearm, metal knuckles and ammunition, being a gang member in possession of a firearm and violation of probation.

The 15-year-old passenger was released to a parent without charges pending further investigation.
