A jury is seated in the murder trial for the Chico man charged with strangling his wife to death. The jury of three men and nine women was finally seated late Monday afternoon for Zir Weems, 30, of Chico. Jury selection took 4 days. Opening statements will begin tomorrow afternoon.

Prosecutors say Zir Weems killed his wife, Angelica Weems, 23, in September of 2014 and left her body near an orchard. Angelica was reported missing on September 14, 2014, five months after filing a restraining order against her husband for abuse.

Deputy District Attorney Stacy Edwards is prosecuting the case. She says the last day of the trial is expected to be March 21.
