Jones Pleads Not Guilty in Murder of Abby Tucker

Olabaku Jones, The 43- year-old man charged with beating his pregnant girlfriend, 33-year-old Abby Tucker, to death in Oroville on June 24, pleaded not guilty in a Butte County Superior Court today.

Jones’ bail remains at 1,000,000, and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on July 17.

On June 24 at approximately 2:20 a.m., the Oroville Medical Center Emergency Room contacted the Oroville Police Department requesting officers investigate suspicious injuries to a 33-year-old female who was transported from her residence on the 2100 block of Spencer Avenue in Oroville by ambulance.

According to the Oroville Police Department, Tucker suffered major head trauma and was later air lifted to a Sacramento area hospital where she was admitted to the intensive care unit where she succumbed to her wounds. It was later determined Tucker was also approximately 4-5 weeks pregnant.

Jones was arrested on June 25 and initially charged for felony assault, which was later upgraded to murder charges after Tucker’s death.

Jones was convicted of sexual battery in 2005 and sentenced to four years in state prison.
