The Jesus Center in Chico will soon be expanding its services with some help from local realtors.
The Chico Association of Realtors presented a check to the shelter Wednesday morning for a new womens transitional home called "House of Hope."
The group will be helping fund the operating costs of the new center for its first year and will also be furnishing it.
The goal is to help women transition out of shelters into a self-sufficient lifestyle.
Chico Association of Realtors President Kym Campbell says, "If we can get any amount of women out of that cycle of continuous homelessness, to me that would be, and to our association, that would be a huge deal."
The house will be located in a neighborhood near the Jesus Center and will house anywhere from eight to ten women at a time. ###
