The Chico State men's basketball team added a familiar face to the fold, signing former Chico High star Jesse Holmes to a letter of intent on Thursday.

Holmes originally inked a football scholarship to Air Force out of high schoo. He spent one year in Colorado Springs before returning home due to personal reasons.

Holmes enrolled at Butte College hoping to continue playing football, but an injury forced him to redshirt last season. Now, he's changed his mind and put his focus on basketball.

The 6-foot-2 guard was recruited out of high school by Chico State men's basketball coach Greg Clink and two years later he's finally got his man.

While at Chico High, Holmes led the Panthers to three straight section titles including a trip to the NorCal semi's in 2012.

As a senior, he averaged 13.7 points per game while leading his team in assists.
