Interstate 5 near Lakehead has reopened after a big rig jack-knifed and spilled more than 100 gallons of diesel onto the highway and into the Sacramento River Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened a little before 11 a.m. near the Delta exit, on northbound I-5, near Vollmers, when the big rig hit a guard rail.

According to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Information Page, the Department of Fish and Game was been called to the scene because as much as 150 gallons of diesel may have spilled into the Sacramento River.

Traffic on northbound I-5 was slowed for about three hours while a Hazmat team cleaned the area.

The truck driver was uninjured and no other vehicles were involved.
