The Internal Revenue Service has expanded its testing of appointment based services to its Redding office.
The IRS began testing an appointment-based service approach on February 23 in 10 of its larger Tax Assistance Centers around the country and beginning Tuesday have expanded the program to 34 other officer nationwide.
Officials believe an appointment-based approach could help taxpayers avoid waiting in long lines. Typically, they have a first come-first serve process and cannot guarantee whether or not a taxpayer can receive assistance.
"Our hope is that the test location in Redding will provide better use of our resources to help people get the assistance they need, and to avoid long lines and wait times," said IRS spokesperson David Tucker II.
To schedule an appointment in the Redding location call (530) 224-0695.
