A search team consisting of city code enforcement, the fire department, the police department, Redding Electric Utility and county health officials are inspecting a Redding building with a history of health and safety violations.
An inspection warrant will be served Wednesday at the Americana Lodge on Pine Street, Redding. The building has a long history of building, health, and safety violations, many of which have generated complaints from their guests over the years. Code enforcement officers have found these violations repeatedly re-occur, even after previous City actions.
The lodge, which has a handful of permanent residents, generated nearly 1,000 police calls for service between 2012 and 2014.
The goal of the inspection warrant is to facilitate long-term action which will result in the Americana Lodge providing safe housing for its guests and residents.
Inspectors will be going through each of the lodge's 54 rooms, and examining the building for fire, health, and safety violations.
