LANCASTER, Calif. (AP) - Los Angeles County authorities say a 5-month-old boy has died from injuries suffered in a suspected assault at a home in Lancaster and the child's baby-sitter has been arrested.
Sheriff's officials say deputies responded to the home March 22 following a report of a baby not breathing. The infant was taken to a hospital for treatment of head trauma and bruising of the upper torso.
Later that day authorities arrested 30-year-old Brittany Ingrassi on suspicion of cruelty to a child likely to produce great bodily injury or death. Investigators said Ingrassi is a friend of the child's father and was babysitting at the time of the incident.
Officials say the baby died Saturday. Ingrassi is likely to face additional charges.
It wasn't immediately known if she has an attorney.
