India launched a spacecraft on a mission to orbit Mars Tuesday.

It's expected to take over 300 days, and hundreds of millions of miles, for the spacecraft to reach an orbit around the red planet.

The mission has goals that include a search for methane, which has previously been detected in the Martian atmosphere.

India has also launched a successful moon probe, which found water molecules in the lunar soil.
