Local Law enforcement will be beefing up the police presence at this weekend's Hmong New Year Celebration in Oroville following last weekend's gang shooting in Chico.

Oroville Police and the Butte County Sheriff's Office will have officers at the actual event, as well as an increased presence in the surrounding areas. Authorities said they have also met with local Hmong leaders to discuss the event's security.

The Oroville Hmong New Year Festival will be held at the Nelson Sports Complex this Saturday.

The increased security measures come after Chico Police arrested four suspects involved in a shooting near Pillsbury Road Saturday October 4. According to police all four of the suspects were in the area for the Hmong New Year celebration at Bidwell Junior High School.
