The new, incoming president at CSU, Chico fielded questions from the media Wednesday morning at Laxson Auditorium.
Dr. Gayle Hutchinson spoke about her new role -- as Current President Paul Zingg prepares to step down at the end of the Spring semester.
Dr. Hutchinson will become the University's first female president, something she says she bears with a lot of responsibility.
In December the schools Academic Senate gave a vote of no confidence in campus leadership ... signaling a challenging time for campus administrators.
Action News Now asked Dr. Hutchinson how she plans to set herself apart from the current leadership.
Regarding the vote of no confidence, Hutchinson said, " This is why it is so important to establish relationships with the Academic Senate, whom I will be meeting with today ... I'm meeting with the executive committee. I'm also meeting with the Associated Students and Staff Council and the labor leaders."
Dr. Hutchinson also commented on the looming CSU system-wide strike, saying that she supports the faculty's right to organize.
Hutchinson is the current Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at CSU Channel Islands.
However, she is no stranger to CSU, Chico. She spent 23 years of her career here and says she is happy to be "home".
