Incident Near Bidwell Junior High School Prompts Precautionary Lockdown

Chico Police have now arrested two people following a home invasion robbery prompted the lockdown of two schools.
It all started around 12:30 p.m. at a home on North Avenue across from Bidwell Junior High School.
Chico police say several suspects from the Bay Area forced their way into the home.
One of the suspects was reportedly armed with a gun and one of the victims was assaulted and had his car keys stolen.
All of the suspects left the home before officers arrived, but were stopped at two separate locations but officers say they ultimately had to let most of them go on the home invasion.
"This is an example of a violent crime that occurred in Chico half a block away from a junior high school in which we caught all the bad guys. Unfortunately if we don't have all the victims willingly to cooperate and follow through with prosecution there isn't anything we can do but let these guys go,” Lt. Linda Dye said.
One suspect was arrested for driving on a suspended license.
The second was arrested for possession of a handgun which was a violation of his probation.
McManus Elementary and Bidwell Junior High were placed on lock down as a precaution.
