Four people were arrested this week after the Butte County Sheriff's Office raided an illegal marijuana grow in Oroville.
The Butte County Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Unit and the Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force served a search warrant in the 4600 block of Oro-Bangor Highway Tuesday and found an outdoor marijuana grow with 206 plants.
Investigators say the suspects were using Proposition 215 to disguise the operation.
During the search, agents learned two wells on the property could not supply enough water to the outdoor cultivation site so the suspects impeded the water flow of a nearby creek. The creek bed had been widened, deepened, and lined with black plastic to allow a submersible pump to draw water from the creek and deposit it into a makeshift collection tank approximately 100 feet away.
The suspects, Tomas Thao, 50, and Chao Vang, 54, both residents of Oroville, were arrested for felony charges of marijuana cultivation and armed in the commission of a felony; Der Vang, 53, and Kha Thao, 48, both residents of Oroville were arrested for the felony charge of marijuana cultivation.
