An iconic moose head has been stolen from the lobby of a popular North Lake Tahoe resort.

KOVR reports that a person or persons stole the moose head from the Sunnyside Resort in Tahoe City between midnight and 7 a.m. January 22.

It is not exactly clear how long the moose head has been in the resort, but the sheriff's department says it is considered a community icon.

How the large trophy was stolen remains a mystery and the Placer County sheriff's department is asking for the public's help tracking it down.
