I-5 closed in Red Bluff after car on fire

A two vehicle crash on the I-5N has traffic backed up to Corning, according to California Highway Patrol.

Currently the detour for I-5N is Antelope Blvd via Main Street through downtown Red Bluff.

The crash happened at about 11:30 a.m. on the bridge that crosses the Sacramento River.

CHP says a white SUV with 4 passengers became disabled in a lane on the freeway.

A big-rig did not have time to stop and ran into the back of the SUV.

2 people in the big-rig plus the 4 passengers of the SUV were all transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Red Bluff.

CHP says one victim may have been transported to Redding, and that all injuries appeared to be minor to moderator.

Both vehicles caught on fire after the accident.

CHP says they expect to open up one lane by 3pm.
