Caltrans District Two has reported this afternoon Hwy 96 in Siskiyou County approximately 6 miles west of Happy Camp is closed due to a rock slide. The roadway is blocked in both directions.
The rock slide was first reported at approximately 4 p.m. this afternoon. No injuries or damages to vehicles have been reported.
Caltrans crews at the scene have requested lighting equipment, indicating removing the medium to large sized boulders may take anywhere from several hours to overnight to complete.
No detour or alternate routes are available at this time. Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Deputies and fire officials are also on scene.
