A Butte County woman is in the hospital after being struck by a driver in a hit-and-run crash Wednesday morning.
At approximately 11:15 Sandra Jones was cycling on Highway 162 and Aguas Frias road when a tan full-sized van struck her and sent her through the air.

"She flew from one corner of the highway to the other and was crumpled up," Sandra's husband Robert Jones said.

According to witnesses, the driver of the van got out, looked at Sandra and fled the scene.

"How somebody can literally drive someone down on a bicycle and drive away, what kind of person does something like that," he said.

Jones was admitted to Enloe Medical Center where she is currently listed in fair condition with multiple broken bones but no head trauma.

"It's a miracle," Robert said. "Her guardian angel must be bruised up tonight."

Currently the CHP is searching for any information on the van, and Robert is asking for anybody with knowledge to come forward.

"Everybody, help us find whoever this is," he said. "Somebody knows, somebody knows. There's grill marks on her helmet. somebody knows."

Anybody with information regarding the vehicle or the driver is encouraged to call the CHP Communications Center at 530-879-1900.
