Hundreds of Chico State employees failed to receive their W-2s

More than 1,000 California State University, Chico employees never received their W-2s in the mail, the university confirmed today. Employee W-2s are supposed to be mailed to employees by January 31 of each year.

According to the university, employees are paid by the State Controller’s Office who prepares and mails the W-2s. The Controller’s Office advised the University they mailed the W-2s no later than January 24, 2014 but several employees have contacted Action News Now over the last few days stating their W-2s never arrived.

An estimated 60 percent of Chico State employees have yet to recieve their W-2s.

The University also indicated in an email to employees today the State Chancellor’s Office has learned other employees at other campuses have also not received their W-2s.

The Human Resources Service Center at Chico State has requested the Controller’s Office to reissue the W-2s, but they have reportedly have not received a response.

According to Action News Now reporter Cecile Juliette, the finger pointing for the missing W-2s has circulated between the State Controller’s Office, the Human Resources Service Center at Chico State, and even the U.S. Postal Service.

In the meantime, the Human Resources Service Center has posted some FAQs on its website to answer questions. Employees have also been advised to request an unofficial 2013 W-2 (via phone by calling 530-898-6771, or by coming to Kendall Hall room 220; be prepared to provide your Social Security Number). Employees can also request a duplicate W-2 by February 28.
