City officials in Marysville have received more than 300 applications to fill positions for the new city fire department that will be up and running later this year.
The city needs to fire a chief, three captains and three engineers that will help each shift. Officials say they were surprised by the number of applicants that have over 10 years of experience.
Last year the city council decided to save the city money by ending their contract with Cal Fire.
Officials are reviewing the applications and hope to have the department fully staffed and under city control by June.
