Humboldt County deputies seize more than 170 pounds of pot on a bus. The Humboldt County Sheriff's office received a call about 7:30 this morning regarding a gray 1975 International bus parked in the area of Rocksprings Road and Johnson Road in Hydesville. The caller was concerned the bus was illegally camping in the area.
A deputy responded and spoke with a man identified as 29-year old Michael Barny McBride from Willits. McBride was seated in the driver's seat of the bus. When the deputy spoke with McBride he could smell the strong odor of green marijuana. The bus was searched with the assistance of other deputies and they located approximately 174 pounds of dried, processed marijuana in large plastic bags in the bus. The deputies seized the marijuana and arrested McBride and a passenger who identified himself as Joseph Edwards.Edwards.
McBride and Edwards were transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where they were booked on charges of cultivation and possession for sale of marijuana. The investigating deputy learned 29-year old Joseph Edwards was a false name, his true name was Joseph Nicholas Moosreiner, and that Moosreiner was wanted for violation of parole by the State of Wisconsin. Moosreiner was also charged with providing a false name to a police officer. McBride's bail was set $75,000.00. Moosreiner is being held without bail.
