Humboldt County traffic stop police to drug bust

Yesterday at 9:45 am, a Humboldt County deputy was routinely patrolling Cannibal Island Road, Loleta, when he made a traffic stop to a red, Kia mini-van driven by 24 year old, Robert Glen Adam Ellis. He stopped the vehicle because he recognized Ellis due to his prior contracts. Ellis was on probation with a search and seizure clause where his driver's license was suspended.

When the deputy contacted Ellis at the stop, he smelled marijuana emitting from his vehicle. Ellis was detained in handcuffs and placed in the deputy's patrol vehicle.

The deputy then contacted the passenger of the vehicle, who he identified as 33 year old Jeramiah Scott Fletcher. The deputy contacted his communication's center and learned that Fletcher had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest for possession of stolen property. Fletcher was arrested, detained in handcuffs, and then searched. The deputy found a cloth case strapped to his thigh underneath his pants, which contained four baggies enclosing approximately one ounce of methamphetamine.

The deputy then searched the vehicle, where he uncovered two pounds of marijuana, two grams of methamphetamine, and various drug paraphernalia.

Both suspects were transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility in Eureka. Both Fletcher and Ellis' bail were set at $50,000 dollars.
