Humboldt County Inmate Turns Himself In

(UPDATE)- 6/20.13, 9:15 a.m.- The Humboldt County Sheriff's Department has just sent out a release stating Henry Lance turned himself into the jail at 10:45 p.m. last night and state it is unknown why Henry walked away from the work crew at College of the Redwoods. Additional charges are planned to be filed against Henry for escape from custody.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department are asking local law enforcement and regional media outlets for help in finding an inmate which fled a work crew at the College of the Redwoods earlier today.

According to the Sheriff’s press release, an inmate work crew was clearing brush near the Humboldt Botanical Gardens on the campus of College of the Redwoods at 2:15 p.m. when a correctional officer noticed 24-year-old Lance D Henry of Fortuna had not returned from using the restroom. The officer eventually found a blue jail issued shirt on the ground and determined Henry had walked away from the work crew.

Henry was serving a year jail sentence for violating the terms of his probation. A representative from the Sheriff’s Department was not available to tell us what Henry’s previous conviction was.

In an article written by the Times-Standard of Eureka in 2012, A Lance Henry of Fortuna was arrested as part of an Occupy protest in which he reportedly lowered the American and California flags in front of the Humboldt County Courthouse in order to raise a homemade cardboard flag in their place. The article also reported Henry was arrested for trespassing and resisting arrest. Action News Now spoke with the Times-Standard who stated they were still awaiting confirmation on the Sheriff’s Office for Henry’s previous arrest and conviction.

Henry was scheduled to be released on October 25 of this year.

Henry is described as a white male, 6’1’’ tall, 155lbs, black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans, and black work boots.
