The Butte County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office is working on identifying human remains found in an overturned vehilce this morning off Highway 70 approximately three miles east of Deadwood.
At around 9:15 a.m. this morning, CHP officers were called to a report of a possible traffic collision at the previously mentioned location. The officers that arrived at the scene concluded the accident was not serious and without serious injury, but Cal Trans was contacted to help recover the vehicles which had driven off the road and into a ditch. Upon recovering the vehicles, authorities noticed other tracks leading down the steep embankment. Upon their investigation, the officers located an overturned vehicle with human remains inside.
CHP Officer Doug Garrett confirmed with Action News moments ago the license plate on the overturned vehicle matched those belonging to an individual reported missing from the Quincy area with the vehicle in early May. Identification was found with the remains, but the Butte County Coroner’s Office his currently working to confirm who exactly the remains belong to. The vehicle was removed from the area earlier today.
