Authorities in Lassen County confirm tonight bones found over the weekend are human.
Two people hunting in the southern area of the county near Doyle on Sunday, came across what they believed to be a skull about a mile from Constantia Road.
Deputies and investigators from the Lassen County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene in the mountainous area and determined in fact it was a human skull, along with several other human bones.
A pair of pants was found in the area as well.
The FBI's Forensic Services Unit and Chico State's Forensic Anthropology Division spent Wednesday processing the scene.
The search was severely hampered by snowy conditions, however, other items of evidence were discovered that assisted in the possible identification of the person.
Lassen authorities are looking into the possibility of the remains being that of 57-year old Edgardo Carrera.
He was reported missing to the Lassen County Sheriff's office in September 2012. ###
