A houseboat is no longer livable after a fire broke out in the main cabin where it was anchored in Shasta Lake Thursday afternoon. No one was injured in the blaze.

CAL Fire firefighters made an aggressive attack on the fire that burned for approximately an hour before it was put out. The houseboat, anchored near Bridge Bay Resort, was then brought to shore by a specialized rescue barge.

The fire’s cause is currently under investigation but CAL Fire said the boat sustained damage estimated at approximately $400,000.

Experts said, because the fire was kept to only the houseboat, there was no contamination of hazardous material to the lake.
