July ended on a blazing hot note! Valley highs ranged from 102 to 108, with plenty more heat coming our way to start August... High pressure just isn't weakening, so look for the hot weather to go on.
The Sierra Nevada saw more afternoon thunderstorms, with both Quincy and Susanville seeing good afternoon rain (the eastside of Susanville reported over 1"!) The thunderstorm activity will diminish after sunset and not return Friday. The upper level winds have shifted to the southwest, and that will blow the monsoon moisture off to the east, into Nevada and allow us to dry out. The moisture (and thunderstorms) may return next week, however.
The heat's not going anywhere... Plan your ways to stay cool this weekend!
