The 29th Annual "Hooked on Fishing Not Drugs" event takes place at Horseshoe Lake in Upper Bidwell Park on Saturday, May 21st, from 7 a.m. - Noon.
It's free, and it's one of the largest single-day children's fishing events in the country.
Children 15 and under are welcome to fish for free, after 8,000 lbs of channel catfish are planted in the lake. Tackle, bait and instruction is provided. And someone will even clean your fish for you. The limit is one fish per child.
No fishing license is required. And there is a separate area for anglers 1 through 5.
Previous events have drawn more than 4,000 children, accompanied by 1000's of adults.
More volunteers are always welcome.
