A homeless man in Colorado is being credited for helping rescue a goose that had been shot with a nail gun.

KUSA-TV reports that Don Carson noticed the hurt goose in Creekside Park. The goose he's nicknamed "Honk" had a nail sticking about an inch out of his head.

Carson began making calls to government wildlife agencies and animal control offices before reaching Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Lyons and Cindy Yeast.

Yeast then caught "Honk," brought him down to Deer Creek Animal Hospital in Littleton and into the hands of veterinarian Jesse Apted, who rushed the goose into surgery immediately.

The goose recovered and is back at the park, while Carson has since found a job at a bakery and is no longer homeless.
