The gunman who opened fire at a car following a Hmong New Year festival in Chico has been sentenced to prison, Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey said Thursday.

17-year-old Zeng Her was sentenced to 14 years in state prison for his role in a gang related shooting that occurred on October 4 near the intersection of Cohasset and Pillsbury Roads in Chico.

Investigators say Her fired several shots at the occupants of a Toyota Tacoma after the two groups saw each other at the Hmong New Year Festival at Bidwell Junior High School.

Her's 14 year sentence includes a five year gang enhancement penalty. Her agreed to the sentence when he changed his plea on November 19.

Nobody was injured in the shooting, but some vehicles and homes in the area were damaged by stray bullets.

Two co-defendants in the case have not been sentenced.
