Update 4:55 p.m. Wednesday:
Chico Police have arrested 40 year old Monica Sue Schneider for felony hit and run. They say she was driving a maroon Chrysler Sebring, and that she was taken into custody after it was located at 500 West East Avenue. At this point in the investigation, police say it does not appear drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision. The victim was treated for lacerations and abrasions, and chipped teeth.
Just before 10 a.m. in Chico, a call went over the police scanner of a hit and run on The Esplanade. From what our reporter Bryan Callahan has gathered from Chico Police, a black or maroon smaller sedan with a convertible top was traveling south on The Esplanade when for unknown reasons it drove onto the curb and struck a woman on the sidewalk. The suspect vehicle was reportedly last seen driving westbound on East Avenue. The victim was taken to Enloe Medical Center with unknown injures, but from what we have learned from Chico PD the injuries she suffered were not critical. An initial description of the suspect is a male, either Caucasian or Hispanic with brown hair driving a small black/dark maroon sedan with a convertible top. We will bring you more information as it comes in and post the latest online.
