Alcohol is suspected in a fatal head-on collision that shut-down northbound Highway 70 in Oroville for hours Monday evening. It happened around 6:15 just north of Ophir Road. CHP sergeant Al Sanders tells Action News Now, a man, driving a silver Honda Civic ran a red light at Georgia Pacific Way and headed south in the northbound lanes. The man crashed head-on into a white BMW carrying two 20-year-old Biggs residents, a man and a woman. The wrong-way driver was killed in the crash. His name has not been released but according to the CHP he was a 41-year-old Marysville man. Investigators say there was an open container of alcohol in that car. The two young women in the BMW received major injuries. Northbound traffic was diverted for about three hours until the scene was finally cleared up.
